Fr. Ugo Sturabotti was born November 21st 1944, in Vallinfreda, a little village close to Rome. His father Domenico died a few years ago. His mother Maria is 92 years old and lives in Italy with his sister and two brothers. At a very young age, as was custom at that time, Fr. Ugo entered the minor seminary of a missionary religious order called the: “Congregation of the Sons of the Immaculate Conception”.

In 1960 he took the habit of the Congregation and after two years of novitiate, when he was 18 years old, he made his first religious vows of: “Poverty, Chastity and Obedience”. After his high school and philosophy studies completed in Rome, Fr. Ugo was sent to Sicily to work in an institution for poor children and orphans. In 1971, after his first year of Theology in the Lateran University in Rome, by request of his superior, Fr. Ugo immigrated to Canada where he completed his theological studies in “Toronto School of Theology”.

  • December 8, 1973 on the feast day of the Immaculate Conception, Fr. Ugo was ordained priest in St. Sebastian’s Church – Toronto where he served as an associate pastor for 9 years.
  • In 1982 he became Pastor of St. Margaret Mary Church in Woodbridge.
  • In 1985 was appointed Pastor of the Immaculate Conception Church, a newly established parish, in Woodbridge.
  • In 1990 he built the new Church of the Immaculate Conception where he served for 16 years.
  • September 1, 2002, Fr. Ugo was appointed Pastor of the Epiphany of Our Lord, Toronto where he served for 5 years.
  • September 30, 2007, by request of his Superior Fr. Ugo was appointed Pastor of “Our Lady of Grace Parish” in Calgary.

Not only do we look forward Father Ugo’s guidance and encouragement as we enter more deeply into a relationship with God, we also look forward to hearing about his interesting life here at Our Lady of Grace.

I would like to say that Father Ugo has had a positive impact on my life since I was only 25 years old and his passion for christ has left a positive impact on me and I have been blessed ever since my initial meeting with Father Ugo over 25 years ago.

    God Bless.
