Alpha II Course

A LIFE WORTH LIVING a.k.a. ALPHA II is a nine-week course based on the Book of Philippians. Our 2011-2012 course ran from October to January (less Christmas break).

Each talk explains how it is possible to live the Christian life positively, practically, and joyfully. The evening is very informal and includes some kind of goodies/dessert (the best part of Alpha!) and refreshments. IF YOU LOVED ALPHA THEN THIS IS THE COURSE FOR YOU! It’s the official post-Alpha course, offering the familiar format of food, video, and discussion groups. Need the ultimate cure for a “been there, done that” attitude? Turn with us to the Book of Philippians and see how Christ makes all things new! Offering clear and powerful answers to universal questions, Alpha creator Nicky Gumbel provides Biblical direction for living the Christian life positively, practically, and Joyfully.

There are nine sessions that all focus on character, and topics include relationships, attitudes, responsibilities, resources, and ambitions. The nine talks are:

  1. New Heart (Philippians 1: 1-11)
  2. New Purpose (Philippians 1:12-30)
  3. New Attitude (Philippians 2:1-11)
  4. New Responsibilities (Philippians 2:12-18)
  5.  New Friendships (Philippians 2:19-30)
  6. New Confidence (Philippians 3:1-9)
  7. New Ambitions (Philippians 3:10-21)
  8. New Resources (Philippians 4:1-9)
  9. New Generosity (Philippians 4:10-23)

To demonstrate that we have a life worth living in today’s climate of despair. The book of Philippians highlights some of the implications of following Christ and the way in which our attitudes and actions should be different, our life renewed.

Thank you to all participants of this year’s course for your inspiration, love and commitment to the program; to Maria Mancuso for always setting up the room; and to the Leadership Group for their guidance and direction! We hope that you were blessed and encouraged by the teaching that took place and we pray that you will continue to be involved in Faith Development here in our church.
