Ministries at Work

Our Decorating Ministry (Art and Environment) decorates our church 8-10 times a year.  And while the word “decorating” may suggest items used for festivities, liturgical decorations mean “appropriate honour”.  That’s what the Latin decorus means: “seemly,” “decent”, “fit for its purpose.”  Decoration is used to make a place fit for liturgy.  And the liturgy is where we begin when we think about seasonal decorations. To read more about the principles of Liturgical decorating, please click here.

Pictured here is the ministry at work preparing our parish for the autumn of the church year. “Autumn, of course, has many faces, the last of which is Advent.” – The Crown the Year.  Also are photos as the group prepared for Palm Sunday!
