A Special Remembrance Day Mass sponsored by the Alpini took place on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011. In a beautiful and touching mass in tribute of those fallen men and women of war, members of our Armed Forces, both Italian and English came out to observe Remembrance Day. Joining us again this year were Canada Border Services Officers Mary Hajdu, Cheryl Davidson and Sharon Dyler (Piper).
In Italy, servicemen who died for the nation are remembered yearly on November 4th “Commemorazione dei caduti di tutte le guerre”. The ‘Caduti” which means the “Fallen” are all those who were killed while fighting during the various wars, paying the ultimate price for those rights of freedom and democracy of which we today enjoy.
We thank all those who have served both our countries and those who continue to serve at home and abroad today.
